Apartment Makeover Update and Plans

Hey, you guys, remember how I decided to redecorate my entire apartment instead of moving into a new one? Well, here’s a quick little update on what’s going on at House of Melodrama. I can honestly say that it’s taking longer than I intended and it’s kind of bumming me out. My husband and two dogs have all had serious health scares over the past several weeks and that has taken up a lot of time, mental and physical energy, and money. I have, however, been able to make progress in planning and prepping for some upcoming projects that I’m really excited about finishing.

First of all, I installed an easy and renter-friendly kitchen backsplash and it looks awesome! I wanted to give it a decent test run before posting about it so stay tuned for that. Here’s a little sneak peek…IMG_2585.jpg

This week’s project is what has been giving me the most anxiety. We’re ripping out our bedroom carpet in favor of a hard floor option and in order to clear out the bedroom to do the floor we had to put our bedroom furniture into the living room. At first it was kind of fun, but now after several weeks of pushing back the completion of the project I’m over it and can’t wait to have another useable room.

Do you like the yellow mirror? I’ll tell you more about it tomorrow. By the way, awhile back I wrote a post about my favorite mid-century inspired couch options.  I picked one and I can’t wait to tell you more about it. For now here’s a picture of Mango giving it his stamp of approval. IMG_2833.jpgAside from finishing up those projects there’s a couple of new IKEA hacks, upholstery projects, a renter-friendly appliance makeover, DIY art, and room reveals coming up so stick with me! –DEEP BREATH– Don’t forget you can follow along on Instagram and Snapchat for more updates.

  1. Love the back splash! My husband, baby girl and I are moving into a duplex in a few weeks and I’ve been trying to get ideas on how to give it a more polished look. Where did you find the back splash? Also, is it an adhesive wallpaper deal (ie. walls need love) or actual tile?
